Hemp, CBD, Terpenes and Cannabinoids?

What is hemp?

Hemp (Cannabis sativa) is a cultivated plant that has been grown for centuries to produce durable fiber and oil-rich seeds. Hemp extracts have been used for thousands of years to cure various diseases.

What are terpenes?

Hemp plants contain 120 terpenes, which give the plant aroma and taste. Terpenes are also thought to have medicinal effects that may act synergistically with cannabinoids.

What is a CBD isolate?

Cannabidiol isolate (CBD isolate) is our most processed ingredient. It is a 99.5% pure cannabidiol molecule isolated from other cannabinoids. The advantages of the CBD isolate over the full-spectrum cannabinoids containing extracts are clearly mapped functionalities – strong anti-inflammatory effect, neuroprotection, analgesic effect and scentless. The disadvantages, on the other hand, are limited functionality and excessive processing.

What is hemp seed oil?

Hemp seed oil is oil pressed from hemp seeds. We only produce oil from hemp seeds by first cold pressing. The oil is very high in polyunsaturated fatty acids and has a unique and perfect balance for humans. Therefore, it makes an irreplaceable contribution to your daily nutrient needs and health. The usage of hemp seed oil reduces the need for eczema drugs, supports digestion and has a good effect on blood cholesterol levels.

What is cannabidiol (CBD)?

CBD is one of the most common cannabinoid that has no psychoactive effect and has been scientifically proven to have pharmacological effects. CBD has low toxicity and is therefore considered an alternative medicament. CBD also inhibits the side effects of THC. CBD is believed to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antipsychotic and analgesic effects, as well as anticonvulsant and anxiety-reducing. Thus, CBD is a potential cure for epilepsy, diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and depression. It is important to know that CBD does not affect the nerves that control physical movements in the body. Like every substance, CBD can have side effects such as nausea, fatigue and irritability, in which case its usage should be reduced or stopped.

What are cannabinoids and the endocannabinoid system?

Active substances insulated from the hemp plant were called Cannabinoids or CBD initially. (Agency of medicines). Cannabinoids in plants are organic substances, which are not only found in cannabis, but also in other plants, such as cocoa and black pepper. Cannabinoids can also be produced synthetically in a laboratory, but we only use isolated cannabinoids from hemp plant in PELL’s products. Endocannabinoids, which are produced by the body itself, have also been found in mammals. Through the endocannabinoid system in the body, cannabinoids have a direct effect on the body. The endocannabinoid system is a large-scale neuromodulatory system in the human body that plays a vital role in ensuring the stability of the body’s internal environment. It is a complex network of endocannabinoids, enzymes and cannabinoid receptors, which are responsible for the synthesis and degradation of cannabinoids. There are two types of receptors in the body: CB1, which are located in the brain, and CB2, which are located in soft tissues outside the central nervous system, such as the lungs, liver, spleen and leukocytes.

The main functions of the endocannabinoid system in the brain are to regulate the release of neurotransmitters that induce excitation and inhibition, to control the activity of the inflammatory process, to ensure synaptic plasticity and neuroprotection, and to control the developmental processes of the brain. There are at least 113 different cannabinoids in cannabis plants. The effects of different cannabinoids can vary greatly. The most popular cannabinoids are cannabidiol (CBD) and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

What does a “full-spectrum” product mean?

The full-spectrum CBD oil contains a number of different cannabinoids and terpenes that work synergistically with each other, increasing the product’s effectiveness and functionality.
