Work hard, play hard? Think again.

Work hard play hard; Sleep when you’re dead; Don’t stop when you’re tired, stop when you’re done!

Recognize yourself? Or if not.. it means you are not putting enough effort in! WRONG! The hyping of unhealthy productivity causes stress, insomnia, and anxiety which in the long run limits our potentiality in personal life as well as in the workspace. So work yourself to death… or rethink and take a chill PĒLL.

But what to do if there just are not enough hours in a day to get everything done?

The reality is that no one can put more responsibilities on you than you are willing to accept. This may seem like an unfair statement at first glance, because who amongst us does not want to be a good colleague, friend, or family member and respond to others’ pleas for help? But when we step over our limits, we soon find ourselves on slippery ice, where the risk of mental health problems, chronic fatigue, insomnia, and, as a result, the inability to work, is very high.

According to a study conducted in 2013, depression, absenteeism, decreased productivity and chronic illness caused by work stress costs the European Union countries alone an average of 617 billion euros per year. One can only guess what these numbers have become today when “toxic productivity” and the cult of success have begun to control people’s lives even more aggressively.

According to the law, the employer must take into account the mental and physical health of their team and map the psychosocial risk factors of the workplace.

These can be, for example, accident-prone work, unequal treatment, workplace bullying, working alone long-term, and other factors related to work organization that affects health and can cause stress. However, whether employers continue to deal with mapped areas of concern is no longer clearly regulated by law. Therefore, it is worth focusing on factors that we can control ourselves and on activities that prevent burnout and make working days more pleasant.

  1. Determine what is expected of you

What is the scope of work written in your contract? Not having clarity about what is expected of you creates a constant feeling that what you do is not enough. However, it is possible that you are already doing more than what is expected of you.

  1. Get organized

There’s no doubt that creating a daily schedule helps you feel more organized and keeps things under control. You simply cannot schedule more things into your calendar than there are hours in the day.

  1. One thing at a time

If the previous paragraph made you think that time can be fooled by planning several activities at the same time, then unfortunately you have to admit that if the anxiety associated with multitasking is not a sufficient hint of its inefficiency then scientific studies also confirm its negative effect. If you approach the tasks one by one, you are more likely to finish at least one of them and close at least one window on the desktop.

  1. Balance mental and physical activity

A sedentary lifestyle is a well-known stressor, in order to alleviate it, you have to be creative and find opportunities for movement even with the most computer-based work. Walking to a nearby restaurant during your lunch break, using the stairs, and using public transportation or cycling can help bring the joy of movement into every workday.

  1. Don’t forget about the people who love you regardless of success

Balancing work and leisure prevents you from getting wrapped up in career worries. Appreciating the small everyday moments with your loved ones and friends may sound like a cliché, but it is important purely physiologically. The happy hormones created by doing hobbies or spending time with the family give the body new energy and thus increase the will to do things and a sense of satisfaction.

  1. Boost your health with whole foods and cannabinoid regimen

It is said that the stomach is our second brain and that the microflora of the gut directly affects the functioning of the brain. Refined foods cause anxiety and products with a high sugar content disturb the body’s energy level and sleep. When it comes to healthy eating, it’s not a matter of lack of knowledge, but of choices and actions. If you know that nutrition is your weak point, increase the strength of your body and regulate your anxiety level with the help of CBD.

  1. Make good sleep your first priority

No one is helped by the spinning of work thoughts while getting ready for bed. In order to truly be the most productive version of yourself during the day, make time for a deep night’s sleep, which is essential for your body and mind. CBD helps you get the most out of your sleep hours and even get out of years of sleep deprivation.

  1. Don’t be alone with your problems

Change starts with talking. If you feel that sometimes everything is just too much, share it with your employer, colleague, psychologist, or loved one to find ways to reduce tension and regulate the load.
