As depression and anxiety disorders are increasing, not many new methods have been found to help overcome these mental health difficulties. Antidepressants have proven to be only partially effective, which is why supportive help is sought through therapies and natural medicine. CBD is one of the cannabinoids from the hemp plant that is under high attention to scientific studies, its positive effects in relieving anxiety and depression are confirmed daily based on new experiences and scientific research. But with so many anxiety symptoms and medical diagnoses – from postpartum depression to teenage and clinical depression, to social anxiety and panic disorders – how do you know if CBD can help your condition?
What does science say?
CBD reacts with certain cannabinoid receptors in the brain, the task of which is to identify the so-called “wrong connections” in the body of each person and to help the used CBD to repair precisely these connections of the endocannabinoid system. Studies confirm, that CBD interacts with both the CB1R receptor and the serotonin-producing 5-HT1A receptor, which regulate the triggering of fear and anxiety in the brain. Additionally, CBD has been hypothesized to help clinically alleviate a wide variety of anxiety disorder subtypes, including:
- generalized anxiety disorder (GAD);
- post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD);
- panic disorder (PD);
- obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD);
- social anxiety disorder (SAD).
Negative effects of anxiety on cognitive ability
Stress and discomfort caused by anxiety reduce creative thinking and promote the development of a critical self-image. Whether it’s giving a speech, acting, dancing, or presenting a business idea, evaluating your own performance as a failure can often result from the inability to rationally analyze the situation.
2011. A research study conducted in Brazil in 2015 formulated a surprising connection between CBD and performance anxiety. Namely, the study found that by using 600 mg of CBD oil one to two hours before presenting an improvisation to an audience, the anxiety level of the test participants was significantly reduced and the fluency of formulating their thoughts improved.
How cannabinoids can reduce anxiety?
Relying on an article published in the scientific publication of the University of Neuropsychopharmacology in the USA, it can be stated that in addition to the numerous studies showing positive results on the effects of CBD on stressed animals, more and more connections have also been noticed in studies on people with anxiety disorders. To date, the direct effects of CBD on the limbic and paralimbic brain regions known to be associated with anxiety have been confirmed. In these areas, cannabinoids prevent the formulation of stress-caused nerve connections.
Furthermore, the article highlights the improvement of social ability associated with the use of CBD in patients diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. Since the use of CBD prior to self-transcendence was able to positively affect people’s ability to perform and therefore also deepen self-confidence and a healthy self-image, CBD was included in several treatment protocols after the study as an effective aid in the therapy of cognitive disorders and anxiety disorders.
What do people say?
A study conducted in 2020 followed 397 adults who were prescribed a course of CBD to treat a variety of conditions, including cancer, neurological problems, and mental health conditions. All members of the test group reported an improvement in quality of life and relief of symptoms after three weeks of CBD treatment. It is important to note that while antidepressant treatment or sedatives are often accompanied by disturbing side effects, only 9.9% of study participants experienced side effects such as vivid dreams and drowsiness during a course of CBD.
Similar performance is also proven by several other test groups, where 72 patients suffering from anxiety disorders or insomnia underwent a course of CBD at a dose of 25 mg/day. At the end of two months, 79% of them recognized the relief of anxiety disorders. We at PĒLL have also received dozens of user experiences that share the joy of reduced anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia and depression.
,,I am Sirle, a woman in my thirties and I have been taking antidepressants for 17 years. There have been better periods, but also worse, where I have needed strong anti-anxiety drugs and sleeping pills. I have learned to live with anxiety and panic attacks and to enjoy life again after difficult periods. Last year, when I was under a lot of pressure due to graduation (exams, defenses), I tried another company’s CBD oil (I won’t name the name), but it didn’t work for me at all. I finally threw it away. I was disappointed.
At one point, however, my sister told me that there is CBD oil that is actually produced locally in Estonia and it’s a controlled and pure product, that you really know what you are buying. It also helps her sleep a lot better and she doesn’t worry that much nor have so much anxiety about the kids and I decided to try again even though I was very skeptical at first. However, I was motivated by the fact that I had a major operation coming up, which I was terribly afraid of, and my medication did not help me at all with this anxiety. I couldn’t sleep anymore, I didn’t want to eat, I was only thinking about how everything was going and how I would recover from it, etc.
Then I ordered PĒLL mild hemp seed oil with 30% CBD extract (soft) and started experimenting. At first I used only 1 drop in the evening, but it didn’t work, and considering how many medicines I am taking, I’m not surprised either. I finally increased the amount to 3-4 drops before bed and also took more magnesium and slept so well. Even when it was time to go to the hospital, I slept like a bear and was much calmer than usual.
But when I went to the treatment, I forgot the CBD oil and in the hospital I could not eat and could not sleep. I endured those 4 days there and at home I started taking it again in the evenings before going to sleep and I still do it. I feel calmer and sleep much better. In addition, I’ve even reached the point where I’ve started to slowly wean myself off antidepressants because I feel like I don’t need them as much anymore!
I plan to get out of this constant routine of taking medication overall and instead use something much more natural like CBD oil. Thank you for this reliable and functional product! I really recommend it!” – Sirle #pellpeople
How to start with CBD?
In order to strengthen your mental health with CBD oil, you don’t need a specific diagnosis or a precise course of treatment. As research confirms, the body’s endocannabinoid system can apply CBD’s calming effects according to individual needs. If you suffer from one or more of the following symptoms:
- insomnia
- stress
- panic attacks
- constant mood swings
- fatigue
- compulsions
- easily irritable
- often feeling low
- difficulty concentrating
…. then we recommend starting with stronger, 30% oils, in which case you can find the right amount for yourself. It is a good idea to start with a small amount of CBD and slowly increase it until the desired effect is achieved. With any therapy and treatment, it is important to take the first step and ask for help!
